Meet the Artist
Hi! I'm Vandita, a self taught artist currently based in Stuttgart, Germany. I specialise in soft pastel and coloured pencil fine art, but I also work with Acrylics and do some mixed media artwork. Born and brought up in India, even thinking about being a full-time artist was unrealistic. Since childhood, I have always had a passion for art, bagging numerous awards and winning art competitions throughout school and University. So, I always kept practicing drawing as a hobby, until studies took over and for several years, I didn't draw or paint at all.
I started drawing again in 2014 and since 2016 have been running my business part-time alongside University. I switched through multiple fields over the years, never fully satisfied with what I was doing. I studied Biology, prepared for medical exams to become a doctor, ended up dropping it, and started my engineering studies in Biotechnology. While I did quite well, I was still not happy. I moved to Germany in 2020 and deviated toward Food Engineering for my master's degree, but still unsatisfied with the field. I took a break from studies, started working full-time in Germany itself, and took time to reflect. I looked into what I wanted to study or work with, but the only answer that popped into my head was going back to being an artist. I was happiest while running my own art business. Ultimately, I decided to take the risk and make a business plan to turn my dream into a reality. I understood and accepted the fact that it is not going to be a cakewalk at all. But I wanted to give myself a chance to turn my hobby into a career. I am proud and happy to start a new journey and focus fully on practicing art professionally as a full-time artist.
